A look at how we approach key visuals, a breakdown of our different photo types, and where to find in-house photo resources
Photography approach
Photography approach
Our photos typically fall into four categories: evergreen, campaign, editorial, and hardware. Each one’s a bit different, but they all show real moments and everyday connections in people’s work, whether personal or technical.
No matter the context, we prioritize images that convey a clear message, especially as our work crosses campaigns, continents, and cultures.

Evergreen
Nonseasonal photos that feature business owners, hardware, or both
Campaign
Narrative-focused photos that tell a specific conceptual story
Editorial
Visuals that take a documentary-style approach to highlight a subject in a factual way (good for long-form storytelling)
Hardware
Product-first photography — either in-situ or in-studio — that showcases Square devices and how they help businesses get the job done
